How to Add Your PPC Ads to Google Places Pages

Found a pretty smart guerrilla marketing strategy to take business from your competition using Google Place Pages and PPC aka pay per click ads. Even if your small business is listed in the A spot this will help get traffic to your site that is highly targeted and looking for a local service such as your business. While a potential customer is browsing your competitions Google Place Page, they will see your PPC advertisement within their Place Page. With the strategy Matthew laid out below you will only be paying pennies to get new customers versus paying for regular PPC ads on the first page of Google. Thanks to Matthew for sharing this with us.

Here’s a neat little PPC trick to use Google Adword’s Sponsored ADs to target your competitors Places Pages.

* Login into your Adwords account.
* Create a new campaign, for the “networks” setting select Display Network ONLY
* Then click the setting for “Relevant pages only on the placements and audiences I manage.”
* When you select managed placements, add: maps.google.com

This will show your ad on your competitors’ Place Pages. The really cool news is this a great way to score some super relavant traffic for cheap because often clicks on the “Display Networks” with in Google often are much less in CPC’s. And when you are being specific about your targets like this within the “Display Network” the visitors are higher quality because they are targeted and looking at related services and/or products.
You can do the same thing and target Gmail in Adword’s “Display Network” too.
